Virat Kohli

Indian veteran player Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket on 21 May 2025. He made his debut in the Test format for India in 2011. In this way, the 14-year long era of the star batsman has come to an end. Virat said goodbye to the shortest format of the game after India became the champion in the T20 World Cup 2024. That is, he will now be seen representing India only in ODIs.

Meanwhile, a news has come out which is going to make King Kohli’s fans happy. According to reports, Middlesex County team is going to send an offer to Virat Kohli to play for them in the summer season.

Middlesex’s Director of Cricket confirmed

According to The Guardian, Middlesex’s director of cricket Alan Coleman said,

“π‘½π’Šπ’“π’‚π’• π‘²π’π’‰π’π’Š π’Šπ’” 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’Žπ’π’”π’• π’Šπ’„π’π’π’Šπ’„ π’‘π’π’‚π’šπ’†π’“ 𝒐𝒇 π’‰π’Šπ’” π’ˆπ’†π’π’†π’“π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’, 𝒔𝒐 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 π’˜π’† 𝒂𝒓𝒆 π’Šπ’π’•π’†π’“π’†π’”π’•π’†π’… π’Šπ’ π’•π’‚π’π’Œπ’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒐𝒏 π’•π’‰π’Šπ’” π’•π’π’‘π’Šπ’„.”

South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who played in the T20 Blast in 2019, and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson have also signed with Middlesex and will also play for London Spirit in The Hundred this season. Middlesex are in the second division of the County Championship. They will play against Derbyshire and Gloucestershire at Lord’s in September.

If Middlesex signs Virat, fans can see Kohli and Williamson batting together in first-class cricket. Kohli is still part of the BCCI’s central contract and he also plays IPL. So he cannot participate in domestic T20 leagues abroad like T20 Blast and The Hundred. But he can play in the County Championship or Metro Bank Cup.

Virat Kohli was going to play county cricket in 2018

Let us tell you, Virat Kohli was going to play for the Surrey team in the County Championship before India’s tour of England in 2018, but that deal was canceled due to a neck injury. Many players from India have played county cricket, including Sachin Tendulkar, who has played for Yorkshire during his career. Apart from this, players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair also play county cricket at present.
