UEFA has unveiled a new Coaching Education Initiative aimed at accelerating the development of coaching talent in women’s football across Europe. The programme is designed to support rising coaches with specialised training, mentorship opportunities, and expanded resources — a move widely welcomed by clubs and national federations.

The initiative will offer tailored courses covering tactical analysis, player development, and leadership skills — all focused specifically on the women’s game. UEFA says the move reflects its commitment to growing the sport holistically, from grassroots to elite levels.
Partnering with several national associations, UEFA plans to host workshops and seminars across the continent, giving female coaches and aspiring leaders unmatched access to elite-level instruction.
“This initiative is about empowering coaches and building a stronger foundation for women’s football in every corner of Europe,” UEFA Women’s Football Director Nadine Kessler said at the launch event.
The programme’s mentors will include experienced leaders from top leagues and national teams, offering first-hand insight and practical guidance.
Boosting Opportunities and Representation
Supporters of women’s football see the initiative as a vital step toward increasing representation of women in coaching roles — which historically has lagged behind the men’s game. UEFA’s plan includes scholarships for aspiring female coaches, pathways to UEFA Pro Licence certification, and ongoing professional support.
