Paine’s Expanding Role in Australian Cricket Coaching
Former Australia captain and current Adelaide Strikers coach Tim Paine is continuing to climb the coaching ladder with a new appointment as coach of Australia A across three series in the latter half of this year. Paine has been brought on in a consultancy role, balancing this alongside his duties with the Strikers and providing support to the Australia women’s team.
Paine will lead Australia A in a series of matches including three 50-over games and two four-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Darwin this July. Following that, he will take charge of the Australia A squad during a tour of India in September and October, overseeing both white-ball and red-ball formats. Additionally, he is set to coach in a one-off four-day match against the England Lions, expected to be held between late October and early November.

Coaching Staff and Support Team
Paine’s appointment comes as part of a reshuffle following the departure of national development coach Lachlan Stevens. Paine will be supported by the new national pace bowling coach Adam Griffith, who recently took a stint as Australia’s bowling coach on the West Indies tour, along with Scott Prestwidge from the women’s team and Northern Territory Cricket’s Trent Keep.
Griffith will temporarily stand in as bowling coach during the first two Tests in the Caribbean, with former New Zealand left-arm seamer James Franklin joining Australia’s coaching staff for the third Test and the following T20 internationals. Matthew Wade, former Australian wicketkeeper-batter, will also join the group as an assistant coach for the T20Is after working as a consultant during Australia’s white-ball series against Pakistan last summer.

Rising Talent: Zanden Jeh Called into Australia A Squad
In team news, Queensland’s left-arm orthodox spinner Zanden Jeh has been named in the Australia A squad for the Sri Lanka A series. Jeh, who has yet to play first-class cricket, is the only specialist spinner in the squad after Todd Murphy and Corey Rocchiccioli signed short-term County deals. Jeh’s selection highlights Cricket Australia’s focus on nurturing left-arm orthodox bowling options.
Jeh has mainly played second XI cricket, taking 11 wickets at an average of 35, including a five-wicket haul in his last match against ACT. He is also part of a 12-member Cricket Australia development squad attending the MRF Academy in Chennai from July 31 to August 13. Jeh is the only uncontracted player in the squad, which includes Australia A players like Jason Sangha, Liam Scott, Ollie Peake, and Campbell Kellaway.
