SoBo Mumbai Falcons Edge Past Triumphs Knights in Star-Studded Clash
Shreyas Iyer’s SoBo Mumbai Falcons defeated Suryakumar Yadav’s Triumphs Knights Mumbai North East by four wickets earlier in the day in a thrilling T20 Mumbai League 2025 Season 3 match played here on Friday, marking a major matchup between India’s white-ball stars.
The Knights managed 145/5 after struggling to bat on a pitch that offered seam movement. Opening batsman Siddhant Adhatrao stayed steady with a tough half-century following a rocky start and Suryakumar’s early removal for 1 by Kartik Mishra. Before losing against Nikhil Giri, he and Suryash Shedge established a 46-run partnership. With a late flourish, Makarand Patil (13*) and Suryash (49* off 21) stitched an undefeated 33-run partnership in the last overs.
Hitesh Kadam dismissed Ishan Mulchandani and Shreyanssh Rai off consecutive balls to start the Falcons’ poor reply. However, Iyer (13) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi stabilized the innings with a 54-run partnership before Parikshit Valsangkar trapped Iyer LBW.
After that, the Falcons were within striking distance thanks to a 56-run combination between Vinayak Bhoir (33) and Akash Parkar (30). Parkar and Kush Kariya maintained their composure to see the Falcons home with four balls remaining, despite Bhoir dying while accelerating.
Aakash Tigers are defeated by Bandra Blasters by a single run.
In the first game of Day 3 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Friday, the Bandra Blasters maintained their composure to defeat the Aakash Tigers by an exciting one run. The Blasters defeated a tough chase led by experienced opener Jay Bista’s half-century, thanks to a brisk spell from pacer Dhanit Raut (4/29).
The Aakash Tigers were crushed early on, losing their top four for just 20 runs while chasing a meek 154. To restore optimism, opener Jay Bista put up a strong comeback with a quick 48-ball 55 that included two sixes and four fours. However, after Dhanit Raut removed the dominant hitter, the Tigers were unable to maintain the necessary pace and ultimately failed, ending at 152/8.
When they batted earlier, the Bandra Blasters bounced back from a slow start to score a respectable 153. With a top score of 40, Om Keshkamat led the innings, and Dhrumil Matkar added a useful 33. With 3/12 in a clean stint, left-arm spinner Shams Mulani was the Tigers’ best player.
