Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar has been honoured by the BCCI by inaugurating a board room named ‘10000 Gavaskar‘ at its Mumbai headquarters. Gavaskar was the first player to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket and this has been done by the BCCI to celebrate his historic achievement.

Let us tell you, this tribute is a part of BCCI’s initiative to honor the legends of Indian cricket in which a board room has been named after Sachin Tendulkar.

Sunil Gavaskar made his debut for Mumbai in the 1966-67 Ranji Trophy season and burst onto the international scene with a record 774 runs on the 1971 West Indies tour. The legend played 125 Test matches for India, scoring 10,122 runs at an average of 51.1 with 34 centuries and 45 half-centuries.

Gavaskar has recently urged the BCCI to hold the remaining 17 matches of IPL 2025 without cheerleaders and DJs to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack. A report says that the board may accept his request.
