The Indian cricket team is going to leave for England very soon for a five-match Test series. This much-awaited Test series between England and India is starting from June 20. The first match will be played at Headingley ground in Leeds.
On the other hand, before the Indian team toured England, former Australian legend Ricky Ponting made a big statement regarding Shubman Gill’s batting order. Ponting has urged Gill to play at number four.
Ricky Ponting made a big statement about Shubman Gill
Before Team India’s tour of England began, Ponting said- His (Shubman Gill) white ball form has been incredibly good. He has to work a bit on his Test match batting, and when you are a new captain, it is never easy.
If they pick Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan as openers, they will need someone more experienced at No. 3, maybe KL Rahul or Karun Nair. This will give Shubman Gill a chance to bat at No. 4. Once you are adept at that, you can move yourself back to No. 3.
Ponting further said- He seems to be a person who will not have much trouble with the additional responsibility. He has a balanced mind on his shoulders. He is a player who will remain in the Indian cricket team for the next 10 years.
Team India for the upcoming 5-match Test series against England:
