Shreyas Iyer Punished by BCCI Following PBKS’ IPL 2025 Final Qualification

In a dramatic IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 clash, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was fined ₹24 lakh by the BCCI for maintaining a slow over rate against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad. This was a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct, as Punjab Kings secured a thrilling five-wicket win to book their place in the IPL 2025 Final.

Alongside Iyer, the rest of the PBKS playing XI, including the impact player, were fined ₹6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever was lesser. Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, was also penalized with a ₹30 lakh fine, and his teammates were fined ₹12 lakh or 50% of their match fees.

Powered by an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls from Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings chased down a stiff target of 204 with an over to spare. Josh Inglis laid the foundation, smashing 20 runs off Jasprit Bumrah in a single over. Nehal Wadhera’s 48-run knock played a crucial role as PBKS secured a historic spot in the final.
