In front of 34,000 spectators at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Lahore Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by six wickets on Sunday to win their third PSL championship, becoming them the second-most successful side in PSL history, behind Islamabad United. With one ball remaining, Lahore managed to chase down 202 thanks to a 59-run partnership between Sikandar Raza and Kusal Perera that ended the match after just 19 balls.

Shaheen Afridi, the only captain in history to guide a single PSL team to three championship victories, threw a nasty jab at Pakistan skipper Muhammad Rizwan during the news conference following the victory.

When asked how he recovered his form in white-ball cricket, Shaheen, who finished as the tournament’s best wicket-taker with 19 wickets and took three in the final, said:

“𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒍𝒍, 𝑰’𝒎 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒚 𝒈𝒍𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒅 𝑷𝑺𝑳 𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒉𝒚. 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑹𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒛 𝑹𝒂𝒋𝒂’𝒔 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒏; 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒅, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒕.”

When questioned about the team’s achievements and how each player performed and contributed to the title win, Sameen Rana, the owner of the Lahore Qalandars, who was also present at the press conference in Lahore, made a playful jab at Rizwan.
