Sabina Seeks Fresh Start, Says No to Further Controversy

Sabina Khatun

Bangladesh’s women’s futsal team created history by winning the inaugural SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the leadership of Captain Sabina Khatun, the side lifted the trophy in their very first appearance in the tournament, adding another milestone to the nation’s growing success in women’s football.

The triumph marked Bangladesh’s second consecutive SAFF title under Sabina’s captaincy across football and futsal, highlighting her impact as a leader both on and off the court.

Sabina Mental Strength, Coaching, and Future Vision

Reflecting on the campaign, Sabina praised her teammates for their mental resilience and credited the coaching staff for their tactical input throughout the competition. Bangladesh opened their journey with a win over India, followed by a draw against Bhutan, before maintaining consistency to finish top of the table.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉’𝒔 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕, 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔,” 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒅.

Sabina also expressed optimism about the future of futsal in Bangladesh, noting that regular matches and structured development could help the team compete at the Asian level.

While discussions continue about her absence from the national football camp ahead of the Women’s Asia Cup, Sabina chose a calm and positive tone.

“𝑩𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒔𝒊𝒂 𝑪𝒖𝒑. 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒚 𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒔,” 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅.

For now, the captain says her focus is simple—celebrating the historic achievement with her teammates before planning the next chapter of her career.
