Ruben Amorim Frustrated by Shoddy Performance

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Ruben did not hold back in criticizing his players’ performance.

“They were the better team with 11 players and ten. I felt we were not there with the same intensity; they deserved the win,” said Ruben Amorim.
“The sending-off should have helped us, but we need to do more in every moment. If they have ten men, we should push them into the final third. We need to do more.”

A Step Back for Ruben Amorim’s United

United went into the game unbeaten in five matches, showing growing confidence under Ruben . Despite registering 25 shots, the team failed to break down Everton’s defense. He expressed concern over the lack of intensity and overall quality during the match.

Asked if the loss felt like a backward step, Ruben replied simply: “Yes.” He added:

“Especially in the way we played the game, forget the result. The result is bad, but I was more concerned by the feeling I had during the game,” said Ruben Amorim.

After openly criticizing his squad with the comment, “Everyone should play better today,” Ruben was asked what he told his players after the match.

“Nothing. We have training tomorrow. We’ll deal with it then,” said Ruben Amorim.

At times, United’s players looked off the pace and lacking intensity. Ruben is expected to make his dissatisfaction clear in training, hoping his firm approach motivates the squad rather than demoralizes them.
