Rishad Hossain Rejoins Lahore Qalandars Ahead of PSL 2025 Playoffs

Rishad Hossain

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has rejoined Lahore Qalandars just in time for their high-stakes PSL 2025 Eliminator clash against Karachi Kings, scheduled for Thursday night in Lahore at 8:00 PM local time.

Rishad recently featured in the third T20I between Bangladesh and UAE in Sharjah, part of a series that UAE won 2-1. He played two out of the three matches before flying back to Pakistan. Earlier in the tournament, he was among several overseas players who had to exit Pakistan due to temporary tournament suspension amid cross-border tensions.

Qalandars Strengthen Spin Department With Rishad, Shakib & Mehidy

With his return, Qalandars now boast a strong three-man Bangladeshi spin trio, which includes Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Shakib has already made one appearance, while Mehidy joined the squad earlier this week. This gives Qalandars plenty of strategic options with their bowling attack, which also features top pacers like Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf.

Rishad has already made a notable impact in this PSL season, picking up 9 wickets in 5 games at an average of 16.44. Despite a slightly expensive outing in the UAE series, the leg-spinner remains a key figure in Qalandars’ spin arsenal.

“Rishad brings us much-needed variety and control in the middle overs. His ability to break partnerships has already proved vital this season,” said a Qalandars team source.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also extended Rishad’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) until May 25, ensuring his availability for the remainder of the PSL. The PSL 2025 final is scheduled for May 25, just three days before Bangladesh’s T20I series against Pakistan begins on May 28, also in Lahore.
