In IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants played their last league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on 27 May, in which the team had to face defeat by 6 wickets. Batting first, Lucknow scored 227 runs for the loss of three wickets on the basis of a century by Rishabh Pant (118*). In response, Bangalore chased down the target in just 18.4 overs.
Lucknow Super Giants finished seventh in the points table with 6 wins and 12 points from 14 matches. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant and company have suffered a major setback after the last match of the season. BCCI has imposed a fine of Rs 30 lakh on Rishabh for maintaining a slow-over rate. Along with this, the rest of the players of the playing 11 including the impact player have been fined Rs 12 lakh.
Rishabh Pant and team made this mistake for the third time in IPL 2025
Issuing an official statement, IPL wrote,

The 18th season of IPL was bad for Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant ended the season well by scoring a century in the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. But this 18th season has been like a nightmare for the wicketkeeper-batsman. In the IPL mega auction last year, LSG spent a record Rs 27 crore to sign Rishabh, but the returns were not that much. Pant scored 269 runs in 13 innings in IPL 2025, of which he scored 181 runs in two matches.
