Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has made headlines for a generous and touching gesture—helping a student from Karnataka’s Bagalkot district continue her college education. The wicketkeeper-batter personally paid the college fees for Jyoti Kanabur Math, a deserving student from Rakbai village in Bilagi taluk, who had faced financial roadblocks in pursuing her dream of becoming a software engineer.
Jyoti had scored an impressive 85% in her Pre-University Course (PUC) and secured admission for a Bachelor’s in Computer Application (BCA) at the Bijapur Lingayat Education institution in Jamkhandi. However, her father, Teerthayya Kanabur Math, couldn’t afford the ₹40,000 tuition fee.
With limited options, the family sought help from a local villager named Anil, who contacted his cricket circle in Bengaluru. Eventually, the plea for help reached Rishabh Pant, who didn’t hesitate to act. The cricketer transferred the full amount directly to the college, allowing Jyoti to enrol without interruption.
Jyoti Expresses Gratitude to Rishabh Pant and Aspiration to Give Back
Jyoti and the college administration expressed their heartfelt thanks to Pant through a formal letter. In her own words, Jyoti wrote:
“𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒕𝒐 𝑹𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒉 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉. 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒏𝒊𝒍 𝑨𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒌𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒚 𝑵𝒂𝒊𝒌 𝑺𝒊𝒓.”
She added:
“𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒔𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓, 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝒑𝒐𝒐𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒚: 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅.”
Jyoti’s story is now seen as a powerful example of how small acts of kindness can transform lives. Rishabh Pant’s intervention not only saved a young girl’s academic dreams but also inspired her to one day do the same for others in need.
