RCB’s Historic IPL 2025 Victory Ends in Tragedy

The celebrations following RCB’s IPL 2025 win turned tragic when a stampede at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru claimed the lives of 11 young cricket fans. Thousands gathered in the streets to see their heroes, especially Virat Kohli, after Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Punjab Kings in a thrilling final.

The Bengaluru stampede occurred despite the cancellation of an open-top bus parade. Authorities underestimated the turnout—over 200,000 people crowded around a stadium designed to hold only 35,000. RCB’s official Twitter had earlier posted celebration clips as players made their way to the venue.

Virat Kohli Reacts to the Tragedy

Kohli, who top-scored in the IPL 2025 final, expressed his grief on Instagram, saying, “At a loss for words. Gutted.” He added that this win was “as much for the fans,” highlighting his bond with supporters.

The RCB social media team later issued a statement saying the celebration was cut short immediately upon learning about the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the event “absolutely heartrending.”

Families of Victims Speak Out

Among the victims was an 18-year-old wearing an RCB shirt and a 22-year-old engineering student. Heartbroken families are now calling for legal action and support for the stampede victims.
