Ravindra Jadeja made history during the third day of the fifth Test against England at Kennington Oval, breaking multiple records with his impressive performance. The Indian all-rounder overtook VVS Laxman’s record for the most runs by an Indian batting at number six or lower in a single Test series, crossing the 500-run mark with ease.
Jadeja surpassed Laxman’s previous record of 474 runs, which was set during India’s 2002 tour of the West Indies. The 36-year-old left-hander continued his outstanding form in the series, becoming a major obstacle for the English bowlers throughout.

Jadeja Overtakes Gavaskar in England for Historic Feat
Adding another milestone to his name, Jadeja overtook the legendary Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the most 50+ scores by an Indian in a Test series in England. Gavaskar had five such scores in a single series; Jadeja now has six, placing him alongside Gerry Alexander (West Indies) and Wasim Raja (Pakistan), both of whom also achieved six fifty-plus scores in away series while batting at number six or below.
The achievement is part of a bigger picture of Indian dominance in the series. With Jadeja’s 516 runs, he joins Shubman Gill (754 runs) and KL Rahul (532 runs) in crossing the 500-run mark — a first for any Indian trio in a bilateral Test series.

Jadeja’s innings came to an end when he nicked a delivery from Josh Tongue to Harry Brook at second slip. Frustrated, he nearly struck the stumps before walking off with 53 runs from 77 balls.
Washington Sundar Adds Final Touch With Fiery Knock
Following Jadeja’s dismissal, Washington Sundar added a blistering 53 off 46 balls, infusing T20-style aggression into India’s innings. His quickfire knock helped India set a competitive target of 374 runs for England to chase in the final innings of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy finale.
