Royal Challengers Bangalore have made it to the finals by defeating Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in the Qualifier-1 match. The franchise has created history under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar. RCB has reached the IPL final after 9 years and is now just one win away from its first title.
Rajat Patidar has done a great feat by taking Royal Challengers Bangalore to the final of IPL 2025. He has joined this special list of MS Dhoni, Anil Kumble, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.

Rajat Patidar has become the fifth Indian captain to lead his franchise to the finals in his first IPL season as captain. MS Dhoni was the first Indian to reach the IPL finals in his first year as captain. He achieved this feat for the Chennai Super Kings in 2008.
Anil Kumble led Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 and led the team to the finals. Rohit Sharma is third on the list, who led Mumbai Indians to the finals in 2013 under his captaincy. Hardik Pandya is fourth, under whose captaincy Gujarat Titans made it to the finals in the very first season.

Talking about the Qualifier-1 match played between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Shreyas Iyer’s team lost the toss and, batting first, was all out for 101 runs in 14.1 overs. Marcus Stoinis scored the highest 26 runs in 17 balls. At the same time, Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma took the maximum 3-3 wickets for Bangalore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore got a bad start while chasing the target of 102 runs. In the fourth over itself, Virat Kohli was out after scoring 12 runs in 12 balls. But then, due to Phil Salt’s unbeaten 56 runs in 27 balls and captain Rajat Patidar’s unbeaten innings of 15 runs, the team chased the target in 10 overs only.
