Premier League managers have been formally warned by the league and the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following a tense weekend marked by repeated touchline confrontations, animated protests, and technical area breaches. Officials say behavior from several high-profile coaches crossed acceptable limits and risked setting a poor example.
Incidents occurred across multiple fixtures, with fourth officials repeatedly intervening to calm situations as emotions spilled over amid controversial refereeing decisions and VAR calls. While no immediate bans were issued, the league has made it clear that further breaches will lead to fines and touchline suspensions.
League and Officials Issue Clear Message
According to sources, managers including Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Eddie Howe, and Unai Emery were among those spoken to during or after matches, though warnings were issued as a collective reminder rather than targeted punishments. The Premier League reiterated that managers must remain within their designated areas and refrain from aggressive behavior toward match officials.

PGMOL has also circulated new guidance to clubs, emphasizing that continued misconduct will result in automatic sanctions under updated disciplinary protocols.
