Piyush Chawla Retirement: Indian cricket team’s experienced spinner Piyush Chawla has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket today, on June 6. Let us tell you that 36-year-old Chawla was a part of Team India that won two World Cups on behalf of the Indian cricket team.

Piyush Chawla was an important member of the team that won the ICC T20 World Cup for the first time in 2007 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Apart from this, he was also a part of the Indian team that won the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Also, during his cricket career, he once won the IPL trophy (2014) for Kolkata Knight Riders.

So, Piyush Chawla has given the information about his retirement from all formats of cricket through a post on his official Instagram account. In this post, he wrote – After spending more than two decades in the field, now it is time to say goodbye to this beautiful game.

From representing India at the highest level to being part of the teams that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, every moment of this incredible journey has been nothing short of a blessing. These memories will always be etched in my heart. My heartfelt thanks to the IPL teams that put their faith in me – Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, and Mumbai Indians.

Let us tell you that Chawla made his international cricket debut against England on 9 March 2006, and in a short time, he was successful in making his T20 and ODI debut. He was last seen playing for Team India in the year 2012.

Piyush played 3 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 7 T20 matches for India and took 7 Test, 32 ODI, and 4 T20 wickets. Chawla also took 192 wickets in 192 IPL matches at an economy rate of 7.96.
