The highlight of the final was Nathan Sowter, the leg-spinner once released by Middlesex, who turned the game in Invincibles’ favor with a fiery spell. Coming in when Rockets were cruising at 35/0, Sowter removed Joe Root, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Banton in quick succession, leaving the opposition reeling at 38/3.
Sowter also grabbed a brilliant catch in the deep, proving his all-round impact on the big stage. While Adam Zampa kept things tight with 1/21, it was Sowter’s night to shine.
Jacks, Cox Build The Platform
Opening the innings, Will Jacks stamped authority from ball one, becoming the first player to cross 1,000 runs for Invincibles. He smashed 72 off 41 balls, supported by Cox’s fluent 40. The duo’s 87-run stand laid a strong foundation, despite a quiet finish in the last 20 balls.
Cox, the tournament’s leading run-scorer, once again impressed, while Jacks’ explosive hitting kept the pressure on Rockets.
Rockets’ Injury Woes Continue
Luck deserted Trent Rockets yet again, as they lost key players to injuries before the final. Sam Cook broke his thumb, and Lockie Ferguson injured his hamstring during warm-ups. This forced Dillon Pennington into a last-minute debut, where he impressed with 1/23.
Marcus Stoinis tried to stage a fightback with a blazing 64 off 38, including five sixes, but with wickets tumbling and the required run rate climbing, the chase slipped away.
“𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒔’ 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑺𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆,” 𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒅.
Saqib Mahmood sealed the win by dismissing Stoinis lbw, giving Invincibles their third title on the trot.
