Oscar Hospitalized: Update on His Recovery After Heart Scare

Oscar

Brazilian football star Oscar dos Santos is currently recovering in hospital after suffering a sudden cardiac issue during a fitness session. The 34-year-old midfielder, who recently returned to Brazilian club São Paulo, fell ill on Tuesday while undergoing a routine exercise bike test at the club’s Barra Funda training center.

According to reports, Oscar was immediately rushed to Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, where he received emergency medical care. Although his condition is now stable, he remains under observation in the hospital’s cardiology unit.

Oscar’s Sudden Health Crisis

Oscar, who was rehabilitating a muscle injury, collapsed unexpectedly during a fitness assessment. Brazilian media outlet Globo reported that doctors have conducted a series of tests to determine the exact cause of his heart complication.

“𝑶𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒔. 𝑭𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚,” 𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒔𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒐.

The former Chelsea midfielder’s heart rate continues to be tracked using a Holter monitor to identify any irregularities. Initially, Oscar downplayed the situation, insisting he felt fine, but after the incident, he reportedly became anxious and even considered retirement. Doctors have advised complete rest until a full diagnosis is confirmed.

Grateful Message from Oscar

Oscar took to Instagram to thank his fans and well-wishers, saying,

“𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓𝒔. 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅, 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆.”

His mother and sister also expressed gratitude to supporters and requested continued prayers for his recovery.

Meanwhile, Oscar’s former club, Chelsea FC, shared a message of support on social media:

“𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒕 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝑶𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓. 𝑾𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.”

Career So Far

Oscar began his professional career in Brazil before making a name for himself at Chelsea (2012–2017), where he won two Premier League titles and became a fan favorite for his creativity and flair. In 2017, he made a surprise move to the Chinese Super League, a decision that many felt limited his potential on the international stage.

After spending eight years in China, he returned home to join São Paulo in December 2024. Despite being included in Brazil’s 52-man preliminary squad for the World Cup qualifiers earlier this year, he did not make the final cut.

Oscar’s season has been affected by a hip fracture suffered in July, which limited him to just 21 matches. Whether he will return to the field depends on the outcome of his medical tests and recovery progress.

Outlook

While his health scare has raised concerns, the football community continues to rally behind the Brazilian playmaker. For now, his focus is on recovery, and fans across the world are hopeful that the talented midfielder will soon overcome this setback and regain full fitness.
