Knee Injury Ends Reddy’s England Tour Early
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has reportedly been ruled out of the remaining fixtures of the ongoing England tour due to a knee injury. As per recent media updates, the young cricketer sustained the injury during a gym session on Sunday. A medical scan confirmed ligament damage, putting a halt to his participation in the crucial fourth Test.

India is gearing up for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, scheduled to start on July 23 in Manchester, but injuries are causing significant setbacks. Along with Reddy, pace bowlers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh are also nursing injuries and are doubtful for the next match.
Reddy’s Mixed Run in the Series
Nitish Kumar Reddy, who featured in the second and third Tests, will miss the fourth due to the injury. His outing at Birmingham was underwhelming, scoring just two runs and going wicketless in his six overs. However, he made a notable impact at Lord’s, claiming the wickets of both Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in the same over, and adding 30 and 13 runs with the bat.

In Reddy’s absence, Shardul Thakur is likely to be included in the playing XI. The Mumbai all-rounder, who has 33 wickets in 12 Test matches, featured in the opening Test at Headingley but failed to leave a mark with either bat or ball.
Reddy’s Promising Start to Test Career
Reddy made his Test debut against Australia in Perth on November 22, 2024, impressing fans and selectors with his all-round skills. He scored 41 in the first innings and remained unbeaten on 38 in the second. He also clean bowled Mitchell Marsh, showcasing his potential with the ball.
So far, Reddy has appeared in seven Test matches, scoring 343 runs in 13 innings and picking up 8 wickets. His best bowling figures remain 2 for 32 in seven overs.
India Needs a Win to Stay in the Series
England currently leads the five-match series 2-1, putting pressure on the Shubman Gill-led Indian team. With key players injured, India must regroup and deliver in Manchester to level the series and keep their hopes alive.
