T20I Series

The Netherlands cricket team is set to embark on their first-ever bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh, offering the hosts crucial match practice ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE.

The Dutch squad is expected to land in Dhaka on August 26, after which they’ll head to Sylhet for a three-day training camp. The much-anticipated three-match T20I series will start on August 30, with all matches to be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The remaining two matches will be held on September 1 and September 3, with each game scheduled to start at 6:00 PM local time.

Bangladesh Adjusts Schedule After India T20I Series Postponement

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged the series against the Netherlands after a previously scheduled tour by India—which was set to include three ODIs and three T20Is between August 17 and 31—was postponed indefinitely due to geopolitical tensions. BCB had also explored hosting Nepal before finalising the Netherlands series.

While the Netherlands have played in Bangladesh previously, including a memorable win against Ireland during the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup, this marks their first bilateral series on Bangladeshi soil. Historically, the two teams have met five times in T20Is, with Bangladesh winning four of those matches. Their only prior bilateral series came in 2012, when Bangladesh toured the Netherlands for two T20 games.

Bangladesh Camp Gears Up in Dhaka, Then Sylhet

To prepare for both the Netherlands series and the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will begin a training camp on August 6 at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur, Dhaka. The initial phase will focus on fitness and conditioning under trainer Nathan Keily, with skills training beginning on August 15. The entire camp will shift to Sylhet on August 20, just ahead of the series.

With this historic series set to take place, both teams are expected to gain valuable preparation and exposure ahead of major international tournaments.
