Nepal Shock West Indies with Historic 2-0 T20I Win

Nepal pulled off one of the biggest upsets in T20I history, defeating the West Indies by 90 runs in Sharjah to seal the series 2-0 with one match still to play. The victory sent shockwaves across the cricketing world, as fans in red and blue celebrated their team’s most memorable triumph yet.

West Indies Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing 174, the West Indies batting lineup crumbled to just 83 all out, marking their sixth-lowest T20I total. Jason Holder was the only batter to show some resistance with a quick 21, but the rest faltered against Nepal’s sharp bowling and sensational fielding.

Medium pacer Mohammad Aadil Alam led the way with figures of 4 for 24, while Kushal Bhurtel’s three wickets wrapped up the tail. Nepal’s fielders were electric, with 19-year-old Gulsan Jha pulling off two stunning catches to keep the Caribbean side on the back foot.

Sheikh and Jora Power Nepal’s Innings

Earlier, Nepal’s batting was built around a brilliant 100-run stand between Aasif Sheikh (68 not out) and Sundeep Jora (63 off 39). The first half of the innings was steady, with Nepal scoring 74 for 3 at the midway mark. But the momentum shifted in the last ten overs, as Jora smashed five sixes and Sheikh anchored the innings.

Their partnership set the stage for a competitive 173 for 6, a total that proved far beyond West Indies’ reach. Akeal Hosein was the lone bright spot for the visitors with figures of 2 for 21, but his efforts weren’t enough to inspire a turnaround.

“𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒍’𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 — 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚’𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝑳𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒉𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒆,” 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝑳𝒂𝒘, 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕.

With this historic triumph, Nepal not only clinched the series but also boosted their confidence ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup qualifiers, proving they are a force Associate nations can rally behind.
