At present, the phase of retirement is going on in Indian cricket. Within the last one week, Virat Kohli and Rohit have retired from Test cricket. After the retirement of these two players, the Indian Test team has been going through a big change for some time. After the retirement of senior players, the responsibility of handling the Indian Test team fell on the young players.
Among the most senior players, only Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja are left. After Kohli and Rohit ‘s retirement, there is a lot of discussion about Shami’s retirement. However, the fast bowler has broken his silence regarding his retirement and has hinted that he has no thoughts about retirement right now.

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has completely rejected the news of retirement by sharing a screenshot of a news on Instagram. Shami wrote,
“𝑽𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒋, 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒋𝒐𝒃, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒍𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍. 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒖𝒔. 𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆, 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚’𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚, 𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚.”
Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been struggling with fitness problems for some time now. He is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025 but he has not been able to perform as expected there and due to this, questions are now being raised about his future. He has not played any Test match for India for the last two years. Shami played a Test for India in the final of the 2023 World Test Championship.
India’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami was away from cricket for almost a year due to injury after the 2023 ODI World Cup. He made a comeback by playing Ranji Trophy. He has played only one red ball match since his comeback. Shami was also part of the team that won the Champions Trophy earlier this year. The fast bowler’s performance was not that good in that tournament too.
