When discussing the greatest footballers of the modern era, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo remain the first names to emerge. Even well into their 30s, the two legends continue to dominate the pitch. However, in one specific area, England striker Harry Kane has overtaken both icons.
Kane is currently the highest club-level goal scorer in 2025 among players aged 30 and above. Here’s a look at how Messi, Ronaldo, and others compare.
“Kane’s consistency this year has been extraordinary,” a European football analyst commented.
Goal Rankings: Players Aged 30+ in 2025
1. Harry Kane – 45 Goals
Harry Kane is enjoying one of the finest periods of his career. The year 2025 may go down as his most memorable season yet. If his form continues, he could emerge as a strong contender for the next Ballon d’Or.
At 32 years old, the Bayern Munich star averages a goal every 89 minutes. With five matches remaining this year, he is on the verge of reaching the 50-goal mark.
2. Lionel Messi – 43 Goals
Lionel Messi has enjoyed an injury-free year and is experiencing his best goal-scoring season since 2019. The 38-year-old has scored 43 goals in 48 appearances for Inter Miami, along with 16 assists.
His final match of the year will be the MLS Cup final against the Vancouver Whitecaps next Saturday.

4. Lennart Thy – 31 Goals
Although the Singapore Premier League is not among the top competitions globally, Lennart Thy has been unstoppable. The 33-year-old forward has scored 31 goals in 36 matches for Lion City Sailors.
5. Matheus Souza – 30 Goals

7. Cristiano Ronaldo – 30 Goals
Cristiano Ronaldo, the oldest player on the list at 40, has scored the same number of goals as Souza and Lemajić. However, he ranks seventh due to a lower goals-per-minute ratio.
Ronaldo still has four more matches to play before the end of the year and could potentially climb higher on the list.
