Bangladesh Suffer Blow as Mehidy Hasan to Miss Netherlands T20 Series

Mehidy Hasan

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will be unavailable for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Netherlands after being granted leave to attend to personal matters. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Tuesday that the 28-year-old will remain with his ailing wife during this period.

According to the board, Mehidy’s leave extends from August 20 to September 4, ruling him out of the series in Sylhet later this month.

Bangladesh’s Preparation for Asia Cup 2025

The T20I series against the Netherlands is considered an important part of Bangladesh’s Asia Cup 2025 preparations, scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE. With Miraz absent, the team will have to adjust their combinations and strategies quickly.

Mehidy was part of the national fitness camp in Dhaka that focused on both the Netherlands T20Is and the upcoming Asia Cup. His most recent international appearance came during Bangladesh’s T20I home series against Pakistan.

The Bangladesh squad shifted to Sylhet on Tuesday evening for a skill-based preparation camp, but the selectors have not yet confirmed his replacement.

Netherlands Squad Arrival and Match Schedule

The Netherlands team is expected to land in Bangladesh on August 26 and will undergo three training sessions in Sylhet before the series kicks off. All three matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on the following dates:
