Maxwell’s Blazing Century Powers Washington Freedom to Massive Win Over LAKR

Maxwell Century Leads Washington Freedom to Huge Win Over LAKR in MLC 2025

Maxwell’s Heroics Rescue Freedom After Early Wobble

Glenn Maxwell played a match-winning knock, smashing an unbeaten 106 off just 49 balls, as Washington Freedom crushed Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) by 113 runs in their MLC 2025 clash. Coming in at 68 for 4, Maxwell launched a brutal counterattack, hitting 13 sixes and 2 fours to notch his eighth T20 hundred and the seventh in MLC history.

“𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒔. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒚, 𝒊𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒇𝒇,” 𝑴𝒂𝒙𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒄𝒌.

His explosive innings lifted Freedom to 208 for 5, with help from Mitchell Owen (32 off 11), Mark Chapman, and Obus Pienaar, who played supporting roles as Freedom added 124 runs in the final 10 overs.

LAKR Collapse After Top-Order Fails

Chasing a stiff target, LAKR suffered a nightmare start, losing Alex Hales, Sunil Narine, and Unmukt Chand for ducks. It was just the fourth instance in franchise T20 history where the top three all scored zero.

“𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒎. 𝑾𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅,” 𝑳𝑨𝑲𝑹 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝑱𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕-𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.

The middle order showed some resistance with Saif Badar (32) and Holder himself contributing 23 runs, but it wasn’t enough. Jack Edwards took 3 for 15, removing key players, while Mitchell Owen bagged 3 for 18 to dismantle the chase. Saurabh Netravalkar took the first and final wickets as LAKR folded for 95 in 16.5 overs.

Freedom Climb the Table, LAKR Remain Winless

The victory pushed Washington Freedom to third place on the MLC 2025 table with two wins in three matches. LAKR, on the other hand, slumped to their third straight loss, now fifth on the table, with only net run rate keeping them above the bottom spot.

“𝑾𝒆’𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒉𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒙𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍’𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅-𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔,” 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒐𝒎 𝒄𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆.
