Marc Guehi is expected to remain at Crystal Palace for the rest of the current season, with a January transfer now considered unlikely. The England international defender is instead set to leave the club on a free transfer in the summer, when his contract expires.

The current contract of Guehi at Crystal Palace runs until the end of the campaign, and the 25-year-old has already informed the club that he will not sign an extension. As a result, Palace are preparing for a future without him, but they are keen to keep him until the season concludes.

A move away nearly happened last summer when Guehi was close to completing a £35 million transfer to Liverpool on deadline day. The deal collapsed after Crystal Palace failed to secure a replacement in time. Although Liverpool have been linked with reviving their interest, a January move for him is now seen as improbable.

Marc Guehi Expected to See Out Season

BBC Senior Football Correspondent Sami Mokbel has stated that Guehi is expected to stay in South London until the end of the season.

“My understanding at the moment is that he probably is expected to stay at Palace until the end of the season when his contract expires,” Mokbel said on BBC Match of the Day.

This reinforces the belief that Marc Guehi will remain fully committed to Crystal Palace until the end of the campaign.

Marc Guehi Attracting Major European Interest

From January, overseas clubs will be able to approach Marc Guehi regarding a pre-contract agreement, placing the defender in a strong negotiating position. Interest in Marc Guehi is already growing, with top European clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Milan reportedly monitoring his situation.

Premier League giants are also expected to return to the race in the summer.

“When you come to the end of the season, you’ll have Liverpool back in the mix, Manchester City back in the mix,” Mokbel added. “He is leaving, but I expect that situation to continue into the summer, when he’ll have his absolute pick of clubs.”
