Manchester United forward Matheus Cunha missed a planned appearance to switch on Altrincham’s Christmas lights after suffering a minor injury in training. The event, scheduled for Saturday alongside Coronation Street actor Sam Aston, was canceled hours before it was due to start.

Organizers stated on Facebook:

“Cunha will not be attending due to medical reasons after an accident in training.”

United have not confirmed if the injury will affect Cunha’s availability for Monday’s Premier League clash with Everton. Club sources, however, described the knock as minor and do not expect a long absence.

Potential Impact on United’s Line-Up

Cunha, signed for £62.5m from Wolves this summer, has been vital to United’s unbeaten run over the last five games, scoring his first goal in October against Brighton.

Head coach Ruben Amorim commented:

“It’s a small knock. We’ll assess him before the Everton game, but we hope it won’t force major changes.”

If Cunha is unavailable, Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, or Joshua Zirkzee could be drafted into the starting XI, with England U20 international Shea Lacey also in contention for his Premier League debut.
