Liverpool’s latest defeat — a 3-0 humiliation at Anfield by Nottingham Forest — has pushed Arne Slot from a minor stumble into a full-scale crisis. What many believed was a temporary dip after last season’s title win now looks like a dramatic collapse.

Chairman Tom Werner watched the loss from the stands as Liverpool delivered one of their worst home performances in years.

Slot admitted: “Playing at home, losing 3-0… it’s a very, very bad result.”

Despite last season’s success, six defeats in seven Premier League games have placed Slot under severe scrutiny. Liverpool have now lost two of their last three home league matches — previously they lost only two in 53.

The team’s former aura has evaporated, replaced by a fragile defence and ineffective attack. Shockingly, after spending £450m on squad additions, Liverpool look significantly weaker.

Signings Struggle as Results Worsen

Alexander Isak — signed for a British record £125m — is at the centre of criticism. Injuries and poor form have left him struggling to make any impact.

Slot said: “If things go well or things go bad, it’s my responsibility.”

Isak’s display against Forest was anonymous, leading to his substitution midway through the second half — a move many fans expected far earlier.

As the pressure grows and Liverpool continue sliding, Slot faces the toughest period of his tenure, with the mood around Anfield becoming increasingly tense.
