Barcelona finally returned to winning ways after a draw and a loss, but their night at the newly renovated Camp Nou didn’t start as planned. Despite dominating from the opening whistle, the Catalans surprisingly fell behind in the 21st minute. However, defender Jules Kunde turned the match around with two quick headers in the second half, sealing a much-needed victory for the hosts.

Barcelona Dominates but Trails Early

Playing at home for the first time since the long break, Barcelona controlled the game with ease. They enjoyed 73% possession and fired 19 attempts, seven of which were on target. In sharp contrast, Eintracht Frankfurt managed only six attempts, scoring with their very first big chance.

Hansi Flick’s team came close early when Robert Lewandowski failed to direct a close-range header on target. Minutes later, another attempt was ruled out for offside in the build-up. The visitors then stunned the home crowd when Ansgar Knauf finished off a swift counterattack to make it 1-0.

“We were dominating, but one moment of lapse put us behind,” a Barca player admitted after the match.

Barcelona struggled to produce meaningful attacks before halftime, while Frankfurt nearly doubled their lead through Eloise Schiri, whose fierce strike went just over.

Kunde’s Brace Turns the Match Around

Marcus Rashford entered after the break and immediately injected pace and creativity. Though Rafinha missed an early second-half chance from Rashford’s pass, the breakthrough wasn’t far away.

Kunde rose above the Frankfurt defence to head in a Rashford cross in the 50th minute, leveling the match. Just three minutes later, Lamine Yamal sent in another measured ball, and Kunde again delivered with a powerful header to make it 2-1.

“We needed someone to step up—and Kunde did exactly that,” a Barca staff member said following the comeback win.

Barcelona controlled possession for the remainder of the match, protecting their lead and securing three crucial points.

Barca Climb After Crucial Win

After six Champions League matches, Barcelona now sit on 10 points, with three wins, one draw, and two defeats, placing them 14th in the table. Frankfurt, suffering its fourth defeat, remains 30th.
