KL Rahul Hurt on Field as Ball Hits Groin in IND vs WI Test

KL Rahul

India opener KL Rahul endured a brief but painful scare during the second Test against West Indies on October 13 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. With India chasing a modest 121 runs to seal the two-match series and boost their World Test Championship (WTC) points, the incident came at a tense moment in the fourth innings.

On the third ball of Jayden Seales’ over, Rahul was caught off guard by the extra bounce of a back-of-a-length delivery and was struck directly in the groin. He fell to his knees, grimacing in visible pain, prompting Indian physio Kamlesh Jain to rush onto the field for a quick assessment.

India’s Dominant First Innings and West Indies’ Fightback

Earlier, India had posted a mammoth 518/5 declared in 134.2 overs, led by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant 175 off 258 balls. Sai Sudharsan supported with 87 off 165, while skipper Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129 off 196. Jomel Warrican was the pick of the West Indies bowlers with figures of 3/98.

West Indies struggled in their first innings, being bundled out for 248 in 81.5 overs, forcing them to follow on. Alick Athanaze top-scored with 41, while Kuldeep Yadav (5/82) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/46) led India’s attack.

However, the tourists fought back in the second innings, reaching 390 all out in 118.5 overs. John Campbell scored 115 off 199 balls, Shai Hope added 103 off 214 deliveries, and Justin Greaves remained unbeaten on 50, helping West Indies set a more competitive total. Kuldeep Yadav (3 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (3/44) were again the pick of the Indian bowlers.
