Jonny Bairstow likely to replace Will Jacks

IPL 2025 is starting again from May 17. The tournament was postponed for a few days due to tension on the border between India and Pakistan. Mumbai Indians’ journey in the ongoing season has been full of ups and downs. The team won only one out of the first five matches. But then the team turned the whole game around by winning 6 matches in a row.

However, the team’s problems have increased after losing the last match against Gujarat Titans by 3 wickets. If the five-time champions have to reach the playoffs, then they will have to win both the last matches of the league stage round. They are currently at the fourth position in the points table with 14 points.

Meanwhile, a big news is coming out from the Mumbai Indians camp. If Mumbai Indians qualify for the playoffs, then England player Johnny Bairstow can join the team and he will replace Will Jacks.

Will Jacks will not be a part of the playoff round

English all-rounder Will Jacks will remain with Mumbai Indians for the last two matches of the league stage round in IPL 2025. But he will not be a part of the playoff round, as he has got a place in the England team for the white-ball series against the West Indies. Mumbai has shown a lot of confidence in Jacks in the ongoing season. He has played 11 matches, scoring 195 runs at a strike rate of 129.13 and also taking five wickets.

Jonny Bairstow remained unsold in IPL 2025 mega auction

Jonny Bairstow remained unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction and then played county cricket. He has played 50 matches in the IPL, scoring 1589 runs at a strike rate of 144.45. He has represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings in 2022 and 2024. Playing for Punjab, he scored a brilliant century at Eden Gardens last year, causing Kolkata to suffer an embarrassing defeat at home.

Apart from Bairstow, there is news of Charith Asalanka also joining Mumbai Indians. Openers Ryan Rickelton and Corbin Bosch will return home after the league stage and will not be available for the playoffs.
