The long-standing tradition of auctioning sports memorabilia for social causes reached a new milestone as former England defender John Terry sold jerseys and memorabilia from some of football’s biggest stars, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The charity auction generated more than $695,000 (around Tk 8.5 crore), with proceeds set to support disadvantaged children and teenagers.
The event was hosted by American auction house Golden Auctions, which oversaw intense bidding from collectors across the globe.

Messi Shirt Tops the Bidding War John Terry
The most valuable item of the night was Lionel Messi’s Barcelona jersey from a 2006 UEFA Champions League clash against Chelsea. That historic shirt fetched $183,000, making it the standout sale of the auction.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United jersey from a 2008 Premier League match against Chelsea also drew strong interest, selling for $115,900. Other notable sales included Thierry Henry’s Arsenal shirt and Gianluigi Buffon’s Juventus jersey, alongside a replica 2007 FA Cup trophy and Terry’s own match-worn kits.

A portion of the funds will go directly to the John Terry Foundation, which works to improve opportunities for underprivileged youth across the UK.
