Everton have been dealt a significant blow after Jack Grealish was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his foot, an injury that could sideline him for the remainder of the season.

The 30-year-old winger, currently on a season-long loan from Manchester City, picked up the problem during Everton’s 1-0 victory away at Aston Villa. Despite completing the full match, Grealish was later referred to a specialist, where the extent of the injury was confirmed.

“𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒆’𝒗𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒔,” 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅 𝑴𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅. “𝑯𝒆’𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒕, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖.”

Jack Grealish Blow Impacts Everton and England Hopes

Grealish has been a key figure for the Toffees this season, contributing two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League appearances, and has been pushing for a return to the England setup ahead of the World Cup.

“𝑰𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒃𝒊𝒈 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒆’𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒖𝒈𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒔 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏,” 𝑴𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒅. “𝑾𝒆’𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒄𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒊𝒕𝒚, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒆’𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈.”

The setback also raises questions over Everton’s £50 million option to make the move permanent, with Moyes admitting the club may now consider reinforcing the squad during the transfer window.

While Everton received a boost with several players returning to training and the return of Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye from international duty, Grealish’s absence remains the biggest concern as the club navigates a crucial stretch of the season.

The injury is another hurdle for the England international, who was previously overlooked for Euro 2024 but had been hoping to impress under new national team leadership and keep his World Cup ambitions alive.
