IPL 2025 Suspended for One Week, Confirms BCCI

Amidst the increasing tension between India and Pakistan, today i.e. on 9th May, BCCI took a big decision regarding IPL 2025. The IPL Governing Council has informed that this tournament has been suspended for only one week. The situation will be reviewed again after 7 days and after that the new schedule will be announced.

Let us tell you that after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, India has taken strict action against Pakistan. India attacked 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor. After which Pakistan carried out many attacks in panic, but it got a befitting reply. In such a situation, after consulting the Center and all the franchises and stakeholders, it has been decided to suspend the IPL. That is, the remaining matches will be held later. A decision has not yet been taken on when and where the remaining matches will be played.

A total of 57 matches have been played in the current season of IPL. Whereas, the 58th match was cancelled midway. A total of 74 matches were to be played in the season and the final match was to be held in Kolkata on 25 May. In such a situation, a new schedule will now be made for the remaining matches.

BCCI will soon take an important decision regarding IPL 2025

At present, IPL 2025 has been suspended for a week. BCCI can soon take a decision for the remaining matches.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said, ‘For now the league has been postponed for a week. After this we will take stock of the situation and decide.’ For this the board will release a separate schedule. On being asked about the window for the league, he said, ‘All the boards support us. In such a situation the window is not a matter of concern.’

Regarding the availability of foreign players, he said that ‘this will be their personal decision, they will decide on it themselves.’ Earlier, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had said on Thursday night that the 18th season of IPL will continue in the current situation, but now the board has decided to postpone it.
