IPL 2025: Bad news for Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul may be out of some matches

KL Rahul will be seen playing for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025.

With India’s victory, the Champions Trophy 2025 came to an end. They won the title for the third time by defeating New Zealand in the final match at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, March 9. After the Champions Trophy is over, all eyes will now be on the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is going to start from March 22.

Champions Trophy hero KL Rahul, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore in the mega auction, is one of the potential captaincy options for the team. However, according to reports, Rahul might miss the first two matches of the tournament due to the birth of his first child. He will be with his family at that time.

The 32-year-old batsman played a crucial innings of 34* off 33 balls in the final. Other players from the Champions Trophy who will be part of the DC squad for IPL 2025 will be India’s rising star all-rounder and T20I team vice-captain Axar Patel and wrist-spinner superstar Kuldeep Yadav. Both of them also played a key role in India’s Champions Trophy win.

KL Rahul will play for the fifth franchise in IPL

Let us tell you that, this will be the fifth franchise for which KL Rahul will play in the IPL. He made his IPL debut in 2013 playing for RCB and then played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015. He returned to the RCB setup in 2016. After this, the Karnataka player played for Punjab Kings from 2018 to 2021 and Lucknow Supergiants from 2022 to 2024.

Rahul has made it to the playoffs four times but has not won the title yet and despite being their top run scorer in 2024, LSG released him ahead of IPL 2025. He has played 132 matches in the tournament and scored 4683 runs at an average of 45.46 and has a strike rate of 134.60.
