After England, India to Host West Indies for Two‑Test Home Series in October 2025

India Test

India concluded their hard-fought tour of England on a strong note, drawing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 and successfully retaining the coveted title. The five-match series was filled with dramatic twists and tense moments, but India’s spirited comeback ensured a respectable outcome.

After suffering two early defeats—one at Headingley and another in a close contest at Lord’s—India turned the tide with a memorable win at Edgbaston and held their ground for a draw at Old Trafford. The final Test at The Oval proved decisive as India levelled the series, gaining much-needed momentum ahead of their home season.

Focus Turns to Home Assignments: West Indies and South Africa Await

With the England series behind them, India will now turn their attention to the upcoming Test matches on home soil. The next red-ball action is set to begin in October 2025, when India hosts West Indies for a two-match Test series. The first match will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, followed by the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Soon after, India will welcome South Africa for another two-Test series in November. The opening game will be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, while Barabati Stadium in Guwahati will host the final match.

India’s Upcoming Test Schedule:

1st Test vs WI October 2–6, 2025 West Indies Ahmedabad
2nd Test vs WI October 10–14, 2025 West Indies New Delhi

WTC Standings and Injury Concerns

India currently occupies third place in the World Test Championship (2025–27) standings with 28 points and a win percentage of 46.67. While the team will look to improve their position during the home Tests, they also have injury concerns to manage.

Rishabh Pant, India’s vice-captain and key wicketkeeper-batter, suffered a fractured right foot during the England series. Promising youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy also sustained an injury, and both players are expected to undergo rehabilitation. The team hopes they will be fit for the West Indies series.

Meanwhile, pacer Mohammed Siraj, who played all five Tests and delivered over 150 overs, is expected to be rested for recovery.

T20 Focus Before Test Cricket Resumes

Before the Test matches resume, India’s immediate attention will turn to white-ball cricket. The Asia Cup 2025, a T20 tournament, is scheduled to begin on September 9 in the UAE. This competition will serve as a key tune-up for the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

With a two-month break from red-ball cricket, Team India has time to rest, regroup, and gear up for a busy home season that could define their path to the WTC 2027 final in England.
