With the Asia Cup 2025 approaching fast, India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has reportedly checked into the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for a crucial fitness assessment. Scheduled for August 11 and 12, this evaluation will help the team management decide on Pandya’s readiness for the continental tournament set to begin on September 9.

Hardik Pandya has been an integral part of India’s white-ball squad, notably contributing to India’s victories in the T20 World Cup 2025 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year. After the IPL 2025 season, where he captained the Mumbai Indians, Pandya took a brief break but resumed training in Mumbai in mid-July. A Times of India report stated that the fitness tests at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) will include physical conditioning, strength checks, and match preparedness, overseen by BCCI’s medical and physiotherapy experts.

Other Key Players Focused on Fitness Ahead of Asia Cup

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer recently completed his fitness tests from July 27 to 29 and is in consideration for a possible return to the national side. Iyer, who last played a T20I in December 2023, impressed with Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, guiding them to the final. Though left out of the England Test series, he hopes to make a T20I comeback.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav is also working on regaining full fitness after undergoing sports hernia surgery in June. Spending extra time at the NCA, Suryakumar aims to be ready in time for the Asia Cup, with selectors expected to announce the preliminary squad soon.
