Report claims, head coach Gambhir wants full control over Team India

Gautam Gambhir Wants Full Control of Team India, Claims Report

After the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket, the Gautam Gambhir era is believed to have begun. According to reports, Shubman Gill is the frontrunner to become India’s new Test captain and has the backing of the head coach. Now reportedly, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir wants complete control over Team India’s proceedings.

According to Dainik Jagran’s report, Gautam Gambhir came to Indian cricket with the intention of ending the superstar culture. Along with this, his aim was to bring a 10-point rule, under which all players will have to play domestic cricket whenever they get a chance. Also, players will have to behave in a particular way during a tour.

The report said,

‘𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒉𝒊𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒓𝒆𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒅 𝒂 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒇𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒁𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒂.’

Gautam Gambhir will single-handedly take charge of the team

It is being claimed that Gautam Gambhir played an important role in ousting Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from red ball cricket. Rohit retired from Tests on May 7, while Virat Kohli decided to say goodbye to Tests on May 12. Both the players have taken this decision a few days before the England tour, which shows that Gambhir and selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar are planning to move forward with a young team.

In the last few years, coach-captain relationships were seen in Indian cricket between Ravi Shastri-Kohli and Rahul Dravid-Rohit, in which Team India achieved success. However, Gambhir’s case seems to be different. The report claims that till now Gambhir had as much interference in team selection and other matters as the captain, but now that Rohit, Kohli and Ashwin have retired, it is likely that Gambhir will single-handedly take over the reins of the team.

The report further states that since Shubman Gill is just 25 years old, he cannot react to Gambhir’s decisions, whereas this is not the case with Jasprit Bumrah. He can respond to Gambhir’s call. The veteran fast bowler is reportedly out of the race for Test captaincy, as his workload needs to be managed.
