The world’s standout football stars were celebrated at a glittering ceremony in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, where excellence from the past year was officially recognized. The night’s top honors went to France’s Ousmane Dembele and Spain’s midfield maestro Aitana Bonmati, who claimed the men’s and women’s top awards, respectively.

Bonmati created history by becoming the first female footballer to win the top honor three consecutive times, while Dembele added another major individual accolade to his collection after previously lifting the Ballon d’Or.

Dembele and Bonmati Shine on Football’s Biggest Stage

Speaking after receiving his award, Dembele reflected on the achievement, saying,

Bonmati’s dominance in women’s football continued as she once again stood above the rest, underlining her influence at both club and international level.
