Ferrand-Prevot Rides to Victory in Women’s Paris-Roubaix

Olympic mountain bike champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot has become the first French woman to win the Paris-Roubaix road race.

Riding for the Visma-Lease a Bike team, she pulled away from the others with about 15km left in the 148.5km race and finished alone in 3 hours, 40 minutes, and 7 seconds.

She entered the Roubaix velodrome to loud cheers from French fans, finishing 58 seconds ahead of Italy’s Letizia Borghesi. Lorena Wiebes from the Netherlands came in third.

“It was a great day for us. I didn’t expect this,” said 33-year-old Ferrand-Prevot, who won mountain bike gold for France at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“I believed the team could do well, but you also need some luck and everything to work together.”

This was her first time racing in Paris-Roubaix, after returning to road cycling in 2025 following 10 years away.

Last year’s winner, Lotte Kopecky of Belgium, finished 12th. Britain’s Pfeiffer Georgi came in 13th, and Zoe Backstedt was 15th.

Ferrand-Prevot’s win was even more impressive because she fell 53km from the finish and had been sick before the race.

“I was sick for two days. I didn’t even know if I could race,” she said. “But I’m glad I did.”

She originally planned to help her teammate Marianne Vos win and didn’t expect to take the victory herself.

Now, she says she’s really enjoying her return to road cycling. Her main goal is to win the Tour de France Femmes, held from 26 July to 3 August.

“I want to be at 100% for the Tour de France and try to win it in the next three years,” she said.

“Our team is becoming really strong.”

The men’s Paris-Roubaix race will be held on Sunday.
