BCL

The second tier of the Bangladesh Premier Football League (BCL), the Championship League, started today at three venues. BFF Elite Academy defeated PWD 1-0 at the practice ground at Bashundhara Kings Arena. Ashiq scored the only winning goal in the 50th minute of the match.

In addition to footballers selected from all over the country, there are several footballers from BKSP in the BFF’s elite academy. BKSP footballers have not registered for the BCL. BFF has completed the registration process with more than thirty other footballers outside BKSP.

Regarding the absence of BKSP footballers, BFF Development Committee Chairman and Vice-President Naser Shahriar Zahedi said, “Our academy has a housing problem. A camp is being held in Kamalapur for the BCL after some renovation. Since the turf has been renovated in Kamalapur and BFF, training is going on in various fields. BKSP footballers are practicing in their campuses. They will join us when the preparations for the international tournament begin.”

Former women’s team coach Golam Rabbani Choton has been appointed as the new coach of BFF’s Elite Academy. The first match of his new role started with a win. Although in BFF’s BCL, the academy team’s wins and losses are not considered for advancement or decline in the next stage. It’s almost like playing just for the sake of playing.

The match between Little Friends and Farashganj at the Forties practice ground in BCL today ended in a goalless draw. The country’s centenary club Wari defeated Uttar Baridhara 1-0 at the Gazipur District Stadium. Shohag Barman scored the only winning goal of the match in the injury time of the first half.

League Committee Chairman and Senior Vice President of the Federation Imrul Hasan could not attend any of the fields today. BFF Executive Member Iqbal Hossain was the special guest at the Gazipur venue. Vice President Sabbir Aref, Zakir Hossain Chowdhury at the Forties venue and Imtiaz Hamid Sabuj at the practice ground at the Kings Arena. Like in the past, this time too, BFF is not very focused on promoting the BCL. There was no press conference or team introduction before the start of the league.
