Agony on the Big Stage: “My Heart Is Bursting With Pain,” Star Admits

Brahim Diaz

The Africa Cup of Nations final delivered intense drama as Senegal and Morocco remained locked in a goalless battle through regulation time. Chaos erupted in injury time when a Senegal goal was ruled out, followed moments later by a controversial penalty decision in Morocco’s favor.

Brahim Diaz stepped up with the hopes of a nation on his shoulders. His delicate Panenka attempt, however, was calmly saved by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. The tension that followed only fueled Senegal’s determination, and in extra time, Pape Gueye struck the decisive goal to crown the Lions of Teranga champions.

The Real Madrid winger took to Instagram the next day, pouring out his emotions in a heartfelt message to Moroccan fans.
