Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced that former India bowling coach Bharat Arun will conduct an intensive 14-day training program starting June 2, 2025. This high-performance initiative will focus on developing skills across Sri Lanka’s men’s and women’s cricket teams — including national, A, and U-19 squads — as well as coaches at all levels.

A Comprehensive Cricketing Workshop Across Levels

According to SLC, Bharat Arun’s sessions will benefit a wide array of stakeholders, from national team players to grassroots-level coaches. The program will kick off with focused training for the Sri Lanka U-19 men’s team and gradually expand to include strategy sessions with both red-ball and white-ball teams, fast bowling drills, technical refinements, and match-scenario analysis.

Arun was quoted as saying by SLC.

Apart from on-field training, Arun will also conduct video analysis workshops, helping players and coaches improve their tactical awareness through detailed performance reviews. Special sessions will be held with Sri Lanka’s women’s national and A teams, as well as coach educators affiliated with SLC’s High Performance Centre.

Bharat Arun, who served as India’s bowling coach from 2014 to 2021 and played a key role in shaping India’s world-class pace attack, was also part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ support staff in the IPL. His appointment makes him the second high-profile Indian coach, after R Sridhar, to lend his expertise to Sri Lankan cricket.
