After the Champions Trophy, Bangladesh cricketers are now busy with domestic cricket. The Tigers will play a bilateral series against Zimbabwe after the ongoing Dhaka Premier League (DPL). After that, they are also scheduled to play a series against Pakistan.
Despite such a busy schedule, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is planning to organize a series against Afghanistan. The T20 series against Afghanistan may be held in October this year.
Both the boards of both countries have expressed interest in organizing this series outside the ICC’s future schedule. They mainly want to do this series with the T20 World Cup in mind. Cricket-based website Cricbuzz has reported this.
If all goes well, there could be three T20Is in this series. A Bangladesh Cricket Board official spoke to Cricbuzz about this. He said, “We have already started discussions with the Afghanistan Cricket Board regarding the previously postponed series. There will be more discussions after Ramadan and we are hoping to play three T20Is as we are considering it as a preparation for the T20 World Cup.”
“I think if you look at the FTP (Future Tour Programme), you will find information that there is a window (time) between October 2 and 12 and we are in discussions to finalise the dates and details,” an Afghanistan Cricket Board official said.
