FIFA bans continue to hit Bangladesh’s leading football clubs. Within the past eight days, two of the country’s most prominent teams, Abahani and Mohammedan, were barred from registering players. Now, Bashundhara Kings have also faced a similar sanction.
The five-time Bangladesh Premier League champions, Bashundhara Kings, previously enjoyed success on the field, with players and coaching staff receiving honors and additional bonuses beyond their contracts. However, financial troubles during the 2024-25 season have led to disputes over unpaid dues.

Timeline of Recent FIFA Sanctions
The Kings first faced a FIFA ban on August 27, following claims from former Romanian coach Valeri Tite. Between October 23 and 29, four additional sanctions were issued, with Mohammedan banned on October 29 and Dhaka Abahani on November 3. The latest ban on Bashundhara Kings was imposed yesterday.
Although the Bangladesh Premier League transfer window has closed, the bans do not currently affect the clubs’ participation in ongoing matches. However, player transfers between leagues will require the FIFA bans to be lifted. The restrictions will remain in place until the clubs settle their outstanding payments or players voluntarily withdraw their complaints.
