Litton Das

Bangladesh received a massive boost ahead of their upcoming T20I series against the West Indies, as regular skipper Litton Das has been declared fit to return. The right-handed opener, who missed the previous five T20Is due to a side strain suffered during the Asia Cup 2025, will lead the team in the first two T20Is scheduled to be held in Chattogram next week.

Litton was sidelined during Bangladesh’s 3-0 clean sweep of Afghanistan in Sharjah, where Jaker Ali took charge as the stand-in captain. Litton’s comeback means Mohammad Saifuddin has been left out of the squad despite his impressive 3/15 spell in the third T20I against Afghanistan.

The selectors also decided to exclude Soumya Sarkar, who couldn’t play in the Afghanistan series due to visa issues. Parvez Hossain Emon, who scored a fluent 91 in the third ODI against the West Indies, has been brought in as his replacement.

The core group that helped Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the Netherlands, and Afghanistan earlier this year remains unchanged. Litton will have Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hassan, and Parvez Hossain Emon to support him at the top of the order, while the middle order features Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, and Nurul Hasan.

The spin trio of Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, and Mahedi Hasan will lead the slow-bowling department, while the pace attack will be spearheaded by Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Shoriful Islam.

The three-match T20I series will be held on October 27, 29, and 31 in Chattogram. Bangladesh will look to continue their dominant form after a 2-1 win in the ODI series, which also featured a dramatic Super Over finish.
