Australia will be without wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis and spinner Adam Zampa for the first ODI of the three-match series against India, starting Sunday, October 19, at the Perth Stadium. The hosts are already missing several key names β Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell β ahead of the series opener.
Inglis is yet to recover from a calf injury
Inglis, who missed the recent New Zealand tour, is still recovering from a right calf injury and could also be unavailable for the second ODI in Adelaide on October 23. His absence means Australia will begin the series without both of their first-choice wicketkeepers. Alex Carey is playing in the Sheffield Shield ahead of the Ashes and will join the squad later.
As a result, Josh Philippe has been added to the squad. The 28-year-old last featured in an ODI in July 2021, with 65 runs from three innings.

Zampa to miss the game due to family reasons
Leg-spinner Adam Zampa has also been ruled out of the first ODI owing to family commitments. The veteran is expected to return later in the series.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins continues to recover from lumbar back stress and is targeting a return during the Ashes, which begins on November 21. Cameron Green, too, has opted to focus on red-ball preparations and will skip both the ODI and T20I legs against India.
