A powerful explosion rocked the Carlos Spegazzini area of Buenos Aires, Argentina, causing severe damage and leaving former Albiceleste goalkeeper Franco Armani’s home burned down. According to Argentine outlet TYC Sports, at least 20 people were injured in the incident.
Fortunately, Armani and his family were not inside the house during the blast. Although the structure did not suffer major physical destruction, authorities have declared the area unsafe due to the spread of hazardous chemicals. As a result, entry to the affected zone has been completely restricted.
One local official described the situation, saying, “The environmental damage is significant, and no one can return until the area is fully secured.”
Cause of Explosion Still Unknown; Area Under Emergency Status
Carlos Spegazzini, known as an industrial zone, witnessed the explosion on Friday, which spread across nearly 20 meters. Local newspaper Clarín reported that the source of the blast remains unidentified, though it injured dozens in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Emergency services, including the Buenos Aires fire department, Bonaire police, and rescue teams, worked tirelessly for nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control. The injured victims were rushed to Ajeza Interzonal Hospital and the Canning Health Center for treatment.
Carlos Santoro, director of the Monte Grande industrial group, highlighted the critical situation:
